In Pursuit of Modern Form

In a seminar at the Beinecke Rare Book & Manuscript Library taught by Eeva-Liisa Pelkonen, Associate professor at the Yale School of Architecture, students wrote essays and curated images from the library’s collections of Early 20th Century Modern printed matter. In typical modernist tradition, the design of the book is an attempt to embody a sense of utility and function in its form. The cover serves as the table of contents listing out each movement/chapter and its given page number.

For the limited edition, the design took on diverse production process. It was printed in three shades of red with a risograph printer. Additionally, the book includes 11 full-color tip-in plates, which were printed digitally.
